Drive west to Callicoon where you can take rte 97 north. It follows the Delaware river up to Hancock where there are some interesting restaurants and old buildings. You can drive back on rte 17 (the Quickway) for different views on your return trip.
Fort Delaware, an authentic reproduction life in the 1700s. This is an interesting local trip for adults and children. One gets to see what it was like to live hundreds of years ago. There are guides to answer questions and they also do demonstrations regarding the crafts and daily living skills of the time.
